Roland Dandó

Dance, performer

born in Slovakia 1993, close to the border with Hungary in the small town Lučenec. He grew up in the modest and poor family. At the age of six his parents were pushing him to study, piano and music history, his teacher saw his potential in the fine art but Roland found himself as a dancer. In the age of 14 he became as a leader of the street dance group “children from the street”. He educates himself by watching the dance videos. He created short choreographies which were perform on the cultural events and competitions. When he won a few competitions, the judges suggest him to study dance and get some professional education. At the age of 18 he was accepted at the Dance Conservatory in Banská Bystrica which established the significant choreographer, pedagogue and director of the dance theater “Divadlo štúdio tanca” Zuzana Ďuricová Hájková. In that time was the director of the dance department her student Tomaš Nepšinský. He established the dance school company and when he left took the place the member of the folkdance company “Lúčnica”. In the 3rd year Roland and other students represented his school on the international competition in Nice “Jeux de la Francophonie” with the choreography “Egoland” made by Zuzana Juhászová Burianová. In 2015 he successfully passed the living school exam and because of the political issues he decided to leave his country and study contemporary stage dance at the Bruckner University in Linz. Nowadays he is in the 7th semester of the bachelor program. Nowadays he is in the 7th semester of the bachelor program. Therefore, he is also working as a model for Art University and as a dancer in the Music theatre in Linz.
